The turnout parts perliting is carried out since 2002.

The rail material perliting is the technology of the heat treatment, when by controlled heating and following controlled cooling the material structure change occurs and the higher strength of the rail head is reached. The area treated like this indicates:

  • Increased wear resistance and resistance against cracking inception and propagation
  • Increased resistance against chipping, spalling and the flow lips inception

The process of perliting means 2,5 times increase of wear resistance at least, in comparison with heat non-treated turnout parts. The longer life expectancy means the lower cost of maintenance.

The outcome from the operational verification of turnouts equipped with perlitized parts verifies those presumptions.
